El trabajo de la checa Eliška Kyselková va mucho más allá de la representación de la belleza o la adecuada composición fotográfica. Eliška se hace preguntas e intenta plantear su mundo y sus reflexiones sobre la vida, a golpe de foto. Así, se pregunta sobre la belleza, la religión y la actual sociedad hiperconsumista en la que vivimos.
Dispuesta a cambiar los estereotipos de las modelos actuales y apostar por la belleza en la diversidad, Eliška fotografía también en analógico (incluso con Polaroid), con unos resultados estéticos muy interesantes.
Su trabajo está teniendo aceptación y ya se ha expuesto en New York, Paris, London, Sevastopol, República Checa y Eslovaquia. i-D Magazine, Wonderland, Elle o Vogue Italia se han hecho eco de sus fotografías.
En So Catchy! Where Fashion Begins admiramos su capacidad para transmitir y la poesía y fuerza que desprenden sus imágenes.
SO CATCHY!: ¿Por qué decidiste centrar tu vida en la fotografía y, más concretamente, de moda?
Eliška Kyselková: Comencé con la fotografía al final del bachillerato gracias a una competición fotográfica. Me di cuenta que era algo me llenaba de felicidad, y que ya no podía vivir sin eso.
Primero, estudié un curso centrado ”solo” en fotografía pero la moda siempre estuvo muy presente en mi trabajo. Quise explorar este campo más a fondo y por eso me fui a Londres a hacer mi máster en fotografía de moda.
SC!: ¿Qué le quieres contar a la gente con tus fotografías?
EK: Quiero presentarles el mundo desde mi perspectiva y punto de vista, mostrarles algo que quizá sólo yo pueda ver. Esa es la razón por la que me gusta trabajar con formas, líneas, luz y perspectiva visualmente, porque fuerza al que ve mi fotografía a pensar dos veces sobre mi imaginario.
En términos de mensaje, me gustaría concienciar y luchar contra el uso de los estereotipos en el mundo de las modelos, mostrando la diversidad. En mis proyectos personales hablo sobre el consumismo, el ideal actual de belleza y la religión. Quiero que la gente reflexione sobre su futuro y sobre a dónde se dirijen.
SC!: Háblanos sobre Awakening.
EK: The Awakening es un proyecto muy personal, inspirado en la Divina Comedia de Dante. Las series están compuestas de tres partes diferentes: Inferno, Purgatorio y Paraíso.
Cada parte fue fotografiada en diferentes localizaciones para conseguir esa atmósfera tan propia de la obra. Hay muchos artístas implicados en el proyecto.
La localización de “Paradiso” es el lugar de trabajo del artista coreano Lee Bul . Hay multitud de cuadros de artistas emergentes en el Inferno y trabajé con bailarines y performers en algunas partes del trabajo.
Quise mostrar la atmósfera de esta pieza literaria y hacer al espectador que piense sobre el sentido de nuestra existencia y la dirección que podría seguir.
SC!: Tu próximo proyecto.
EK: Se llama “Encouters” y se trata de un proyecto con artistas e ilustradores jóvenes.
Y mi siguiente paso es empezar a trabajar con magazines como i-D o Love y encontrar una agencia en Londres.
SC!: ¿Es difícil vivir de la fotografía de moda siendo tan joven?
EK: Sí, bastante. Soy freelance pero sigo trabajando proyectos personales. Aún así, tengo suficientes clientes como para pagar mis gastos y hacer estos trabajos personales.
SC!: Tus fotógrafos de moda favoritos y por qué.
EK: Tim Walker, Viviane Sassen y Olaf Breuning. Tim por todo, desde el uso de la luz hasta todos los pequeños y sorprendentes detalles. Viviane, por ver lo invisible y Olaf por sus colores, la originalidad y su aproximación cruda a la fotografía.
SC!: Diseñadores de moda emergentes que te gusten.
EK: ¡Hay tantos! Robert Wun por sus formas y colores innovadores (soy una gran fan de sus campañas), Quoï Alexander y Krasimira Stoyneva por los colores y los materiales. Serene Gili por las siluetas de las faldas. También trabajé con grandes diseñadores como Olga Noronha, Maria Piankov o Desirée Slabik, a los que admiro mucho.
