From the 19th to the 25th of October, Fashion Week Brooklyn, an independent fashion show, will be taking place in the heart of New York.
Fashion Week Brooklyn is an international event that takes place twice a year, founded by the non-profit 501c3 BK|Style Foundation.
Their objective is to provide a stage for emerging designers, and seasoned ones, from all over the world.
In practice, however, they take it even further.BK|SF dedicates every season to supporting humanitarian causes, like Soles4Souls Foundation, MTV Staying Alive Foundation, Art In Motion Show, Denim Day NYC and Colel Chabad, to raise awareness for issues such as human rights, the fight against AIDS, eco-friendly initiatives and poverty, to name a few.
For this edition, Fashion Week Brooklyn (FWBK) and Denim Day NYC are joining forces to raise awareness of sexual violence.
Reinforcing their neighborhood spirit, the catwalks and shows will take place around the city. Some of the designers that will be showing their S/S 2016 collections are: Amparo3, Kit Woo, Zam Barrett, ienday and Irina Shabayeva, among others.
Fashion, opportunities, education and solidarity are the raison d’être of FWBK, which is celebrating its ninth edition this year.
So Catchy! Where Fashion Begins is a media collaborator with Fashion Week Brooklyn and we’ll be bringing you more from the most important independent fashion event in New York.
You can follow the event on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
