Feeric Fashion Week is one of Europe’s most important platforms for emerging talent in the world of fashion. From the 17th to the 23rd of July 2017, Transylvania, Romania, will be the stage for the tenth edition of the event.

Each year, Alejandro D. Lomas, a native of Jerez, Spain, is in charge of selecting and representing young Spanish participants. On his way to Romania this year he’ll be bringing Manuel Pampillón and Visori.

So Catchy! Where Fashion Begins spoke with the Spanish brandmanager about his work and the talents that will be on display next week.

SO CATCHY!: What exactly do you do for the Feeric Fashion Week?

ALEJANDRO D. LOMAS: At Feeric Fashion Week I work on the search for emerging talent and propose that they participate in the Fashion Week. I’m just one part of a incredible team that makes up Feeric Fashion Week. Faith in the project, and hard work have made this one of the most powerful events in Eastern Europe, with the largest international reach.

SC!: What sets this Fashion Week apart from others?

AL: I believe that the trick is in constantly seeking new blood. This Fashion Week is attended by selected designers from all over the world. It’s got a kind of globalized take on fashion. The stages and catwalks are another strong point; our team seeks out new and different locations each year, bringing creativity to the environment according to collections proposed by different designers. In effect, every show is its own universe. You can find lion cages to train tracks in movement, airport runways, castles, theaters, churches…

Everything Feeric does has a certain magic to it and it will suck you in. The proposals are also kept secret, known only to the designer and organizers so they can play with the element of surprise. The relationship to the public, multiculturality and parallel events organized during the Fashion Week give it all a sense of family.

SC!: Which Spanish designers will you be representing this year?

AL: This year, after seeking out avant-garde and unique proposals with the Made in Spain label, I decided that the ideal candidates would be Manuel Pampillón and Visori. I preferred quality before quantity and this year I’m betting on the powerful esthetic that both designers possess.

Manuel Pampillón presents X-Art, a collection developed after winning Code 41. It’s a very theatrical collection, inspired by the dark side of art.

Visori will present Sutura (stitches), an agender collection is notable for its straight lines, asymmetrical cuts and conceptual nature, which are all different aspects of the label.

I can’t really reveal much more about the collections at the moment.

SC!: What do you expect from this year’s Feeric Fashion Week?

AL: We expect something big. This year we’re celebrating the 10th Edition and I’m sure that it will be a memorable one. With regards to the Spanish designers, I’m sure that they will surprise everyone. The countdown has already begun and emotions are running high. Living Feeric is truly a unique experience.

SC!: The world of fashion urgently needs …

AL: Opportunities for Talent, taking a chance on emerging design. I’m talking about emerging talent that I work with every day. Designers with a lot of reach and even more talent who are held back by economics from reach a larger audience. Unfortunately, in this day and age, massification is evident, and to stand out, you need more than just good ideas to get ahead; objectively, money and visibility mark the path for emerging labels.
SC!: Name some of the trends that you think will be the future.
AL: I’m betting on technology applied to clothes, I think this area is about to take off. Organic, natural fabrics in symbiosis with advanced technology seems quite interesting to me and I’m convinced that we’ll be seeing more of it soon.
