The footwear from her MIRAI collection captivated us here at So Catchy! Where Fashion Begins so we decided that we wanted to know more about their designer, Salome Totladze. She’s the brains behind NAKAHARA and here’s the interview that she gave us. We’ll be keeping our an eye out for whatever she comes up with next.

So Catchy!: We really like your collection ‘MIRAI’, could you tell us more about how you developed the concept behind the pieces?

Salome Totladze: Since i was kid, I always loved Japan, so I decided to use it as my main inspiration for my collection. The collection is about Japan in the future. The name itself means ‘the future’ in Japanese.

SC!: What’s your creative process like?

ST: My creative process starts with the main inspiration. Then I do the research to narrow down some key points I want to use for the project. For me, making sketches is the most pleasant part. The process itself is very complex but i enjoy every part of it.

SC!: What will you be working on next?

ST: I just finished a capsule collection for a concept store I’ve been working with. And I’m planning to do another project very soon. For now its just sketches.

SC!: Which Instagram account, magazines, or blogs can you not miss out on?
